序文
Leeさんに初めてお目に掛ったのは、画廊のお客様としてお寄り頂いた時からです。
ある会社の責任ある地位で、経済人として活躍の真っ只中にいらした頃でしょう。
一年に一度くらいの割りで、絵画一般について語り合ったりする内、Leeさんも絵を描かれることを知りました。写真で作品を見せていただき、たいへん完成度の高い作品を制作されていることに驚かされました。
第一印象は、宇宙的（コスモス）だなと感じました。星の集まり、地熱の動きのようなイメージ、抽象的とはいえ、作家の描きたい方向が感じられました。
その後、Leeさんが画家を目指すようになったいきさつを詳しく知って、天体、地上の中からピュアなものを掬い上げ、人間の豊かな感情を表現した作品だと知りました。
私たちの第一印象は、Leeさんの作品をかなり正しく感じ取っていたのです。
彼が、描かなければならないと感じている使命感が、何であるにしても、とても温和で、知力に満ちたLeeさんが、自然の導きに任せて美を見付け、それを描く時、彼の究極の目的が達せられ、私たちを魅了する作品が生れるでしょう。
ある著名な日本画家も言っています。「作品は、それ自体が語るので、言葉の説明は要らないのだ。」と。

A note from the gallery
It was mere coincidence to meet Lee-san when he used to visit our gallery as a customer. This was while he was still at an apex of corporate world. He would drop in about once a year; and would engage in dialogue about art in general. This was when we gradually realized he was an artist himself.
When we first saw his work, we were surprised at the already advanced stage of his art. My first impression was that his work seemed “cosmic”. Stars, skies, and landscapes that seemed to be at once abstract yet illustrative of the intent of the artist. Later, when we learned that he had set out to become an artist, I became increasingly aware that his intent was to pick out the purest elements around us to express the depths of human emotions.
Regardless of all of the elements that drives a person to become an artist, I know that the warm and intellectual Lee-san’s search for beauty in our lives through his paintings will continue to yield works that enthrall us.
